Starting up a business is easy; anyone who wants to can be up and running tomorrow with no qualifications or experience required
But keeping a business going, and ensuring it succeeds and thrives is much, much harder. Given the ease with which a business can be started, and the death of support new business owners receive, perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised then 80% are destined to fail before they even reach their fifth birthday, with all the devastating consequences that can mean for the owner, their family, employees, customers, suppliers – and the local community.
We wouldn’t tolerate this level of failure in any other area. Take education for example. Imagine if the government were to introduce a new progressive learning programme that allowed pupils to pursue whatever subjects excited them, to choose how much time and effort they put in to learning, with no teachers checking up on them. If the result of this scheme saw only 2 in every 10 making it through to sit their GCSE exams there’d be uproar with parents calling for ministers and head teachers to be fired – but this ‘sink or swim’ approach is exactly how new businesses are treated.
Setting out to change things
It was wanting to do something about this that was a driving force to setting up Inca. While the life expectancy of start-ups and young businesses might make the sector seem an odd choice for an accountancy company to focus on, we love the passion and enthusiasm of small business owners, and rather than simply accept that having to constantly replenish our client base would be a given, we made it our mission to actually do something about the statistics.
We set out to change the odds in favour of our clients and make a difference to their families and all those around them.
So did we succeed? Yes we did!
Proof that the Inca way works!
To get a clear picture of how our clients fare in comparison with the national average, we’ve just completed a review of those businesses that began working with us between 2009-2011 – and the results are outstanding.
57% of the new start-up clients we took on in this period are not only still trading, but still with Inca. Put another way it means that clients choosing Inca as their accountant improve the odds of making it to their 5th anniversary by 185%!
How do we do it?
It’s not rocket science. Our business model simply ensures that new business owners are surrounded by all the professional help and expert advice they need to give them the very best chance to flourish.
All Inca clients benefit from:
We always knew that our approach gave new businesses a better start in life, but it’s great that we are now able to look back and see real evidence that proves that start-ups opting to work with Inca are almost 200% statistically more likely to succeed than the national average!
Can we help you improve your odds by 185%
Have you recently started a new business? Do you know someone who has?
We want to give even more new businesses the best possible chance of success, and we’d love to meet with owners of professional service businesses, and businesses selling their time and expertise (rather than products) based in Oxfordshire and Berkshire.
