You set up your business because you love what you do and you’re good at it. That’s how most small businesses get started.
But on its own, being technically great at your job isn’t enough. To grow your business into something that’s successful and sustainable, you need to acquire a range of essential business skills (precisely why we run our business workshop programme), and chief among these is knowing how to sell.
Many business owners feel uncomfortable about sales, but the brutal truth is that if people aren’t buying from you, you won’t have a business for very long. To survive and thrive, you need to develop your sales skills.

If the mere mention of the ‘S’ word fills you with dread, book onto our May workshop How to Sell More AND Enjoy It! Our guest speaker Mark Cadbury believes that anyone can learn to sell effectively, and that selling can be made into an enjoyable experience – rather than something to be feared.
Mark says: “Part of the skill and fun in selling is recognising the purchase decision being made by the customer, understanding that they really do want your service and that they’re willing to pay what you’re asking. It’s crucial you’re confident about your pricing and know you’re justified in what you’re charging. If you’re not, it’s easy to find you’re busy – but servicing price sensitive clients that won’t generate the income you need.”
Say for example you have 4 rooms in your home and use one of them exclusively as an office, you can claim tax relief on 25% of your allowable expenses.
It’s important to be aware that a qualifying room cannot be a common area such as a hallway, landing, bathroom, kitchen or utility room.
What Will You Learn?
Mark will explain how, by putting yourself in your customers’ shoes and understanding their frustrations, you can present them with a vision that doesn’t even require you to talk directly about your offer: something that’s especially relevant to service-focused businesses with no tangible product to show.
You will learn:
- How the sales process works & strategies to help make your sales pitch more relevant & compelling
- How to handle objections
- Techniques to ensure that when the meeting’s over, your proposal gets considered in the very best light
- How to win those all-important repeat sales
- How to ask the right questions so you get the best price for your service: a price your customer will be happy to pay
