Essential Information on Self-Employment Income Support Scheme – Please Read
Applications for the government’s Self-Employment Income Support Scheme open on Wednesday 13th May, with money expected to be paid into the accounts of qualifying claimants within six working days.
HMRC is in the process of contacting people via an email or text message advising them how to apply.
Important note: Make sure any communication you receive is genuine as fraudsters are already taking advantage of the situation. Genuine HMRC emails and text messages are for information only and will not contain any active links.
Only YOU Can Process Your Claim
HMRC are not allowing accountants or other agents to process claims on behalf of taxpayers, so you will have to do this yourself.
Check Your Eligibility
You can check whether you are eligible under the scheme (or we can do it for you) by using, HMRC’s eligibility checker at https://www.tax.service.gov.uk/self-employment-support/enter-unique-taxpayer-reference. You will need your Unique Tax Reference (UTR).
Using the eligibility checker allows you (or us) to verify if there are likely to be any issues that will need to be overcome. It also provides the opportunity to enter an email address for your business which will help speed up your claim.
Make Sure You Have a Government Gateway Account
To make your claim, you’ll need to have a Government Gateway user account. If you don’t yet have one, it’s essential you start this process immediately. You can create an account when you check your eligibility. You will need your Unique Tax Reference (UTR).
